Muay Thai in Fishtown.
1360 N American St, minutes off Frankford Ave. Beginner classes with no sparring, free parking, and your first 2 weeks free.
If you live in Fishtown and you want to learn to actually strike — not shadowbox in a group fitness class — Logic is right here at 1360 N American St, minutes west of Frankford Ave and four blocks from the Berks stop on the El. Muay Thai here is led by Edwin Capetillo, a Karate Hall of Fame inductee with 10 years in the sport. Beginners get their own sessions with no live sparring and no advanced students in the room. Experienced strikers get pad rounds and opt-in sparring in the all-levels classes.
Why people from Fishtown train here.
Beginners don't spar.
Most striking gyms put new people in sparring inside the first month and call it 'getting experience'. At Logic, beginner Muay Thai has no live sparring — stance, footwork, and strikes taught rep by rep. Sparring is opt-in, and only for experienced students who choose it.
Six minutes door to mat.
Girard west from Frankford, or Frankford to Berks. Free private lot on site — no meters, no permit zone, no circling Front Street before class.
Real coaching, not a bag class.
Edwin Capetillo runs the program: 10 years in Muay Thai, Karate Hall of Fame inductee, national karate champion. Adolphus Li (5 years), Fedir Lantukh (10 years), and Salih Hass (5 years) coach alongside him.
Getting here.
We're at 1360 N American St, in the heart of Fishtown. Three ways to get here, all of them simple.
Girard Avenue west from Frankford, then south on American Street. Our lot is on site and always free, so you can leave home at 5:45 and be wrapping your hands at 6:00.
The Market-Frankford Line drops you at Front & Berks or Front & Girard. Both are about a four-block, five-to-eight minute walk. Easiest option coming straight from work in Center City.
There's a bike rental station three blocks north of the academy on N American St. The ride to our door is flat and mostly quiet.
Class times that fit a Fishtown week.
You don't need to rearrange your life. These are the slots that work best for people coming from Fishtown.
What Fishtown people ask before they walk in.
What your first class actually looks like.
You wrap your hands, warm up, and learn stance and how to move in it. Then the basic strikes on pads with a coach correcting you — not a class of 40 people copying a screen. No sparring, no partner throwing anything at you, and you'll know exactly what you learned when you walk out.
Do I need to be in shape first?
No. You set the pace on the bag and the pads. Most people who walk in are starting from scratch on conditioning — the classes build it, they don't assume it.
What you buy and what we provide.
The $99 gear kit is gloves and hand wraps, and they're yours to keep. Logic provides the heavy bags, Thai pads, and shin guards. Training for your first 2 weeks is free.
There's no belt system.
Muay Thai doesn't rank by belt. Experience is stated in years — Edwin has 10, Fedir has 10, Adolphus and Salih have 5 each. That's the honest measure, and it's why we publish it instead of handing out colors.
Parking, honestly.
Free private lot on site. That's the reason people pick us over gyms with better Instagram. You'll never pay for parking or move your car mid-class.
